Something we aren’t being asked for very often but something we can do for our customers – a newsletter system installed and set up on your own web space, so that you do not need to rely on the likes of constant contact if you do not wish to. There are various relatively flexible systems out there and we are happy to recommend some of them. As usual, we work with open source software to get our customers the best deals and avoid any muddle around licensing, as there are no license fees for open source.

We were lucky enough to be finally allowed to build the long overdue site of our photographer friend Charles Gervais. He has been a photographer for years and a self-confessed web designer before that and NEVER had a web site! So recently he decided that yes, he needed a site, and also a blog. So we swiftly designed a framework and blog for him that he really really liked and now you can see it at: www.bothhemispheres.com.

It’s a challenge to work with all these photographs of mouthwatering food but someone’s gotta do it. We have become something of an expert in adding blogs to web sites recently, hence why we added one to our own site, too (and hid it, as I don’t get to update it that often…)

2010 must be blogging year. We have added blog systems to customers’ web sites for some time but now they are selling like hot cakes. We usually use WordPress and if it’s an existing site, we upload the blog system onto the customer’s web space, take the design of the site, transplant it on the blog, add a link to the web site and voila, a blog is added to the customer’s site that looks exactly like their web site and fits in seamlessly. This usually takes us a day in working time. At the moment, we are working on one for www.midascorporateconsulting.com.
